What are your first impressions of these baby girl names?
Desiree reminds me of a young, 20's-ish blond girl. It reminds me of the 80's, too, for some reason, haha.


Carmen reminds me of a brunette of Mediterranean or Hispanic descent.


Nadia reminds me of an absolutely beautiful Middle Eastern woman.


Bianca makes me think of a kind of snobbish, modern Italian woman.


Eden makes me think of a beautiful girl with black hair, pale skin and blue eyes. Exotic looking but still delicate and pretty.


Leila makes me think of a young blond girl too, but more in her teens.

Reply:Desirée - Just my opinion but I dislike the name Desirée. For absolute no reason. No offense to all the Desirées out there.





Carmen - I have been thinking about the name Carmen a lot actually. The first connection that comes to my mind is the opera Carmen. To my surprise it is of Hebrew origin, I've always associated it the french and spanish. In terms of popularity it's been on the 200-300 rank for the past 100 years. Pretty solid. But I'm having mixed fillings about it. I feel like there is a better choice out there. Ah and it used to be somewhat popular as a boys name in like the 20's or something. Grampa Carmen? That's weird.





Nadia - I like russian names a lot. I grew up in south america and used to read books and watch movies about russia and imagined russian people were so exotic as a kid. I think that's coming back now because I keep researching russian names. So I'm not the best person to give you an opinion on Nadia. Anyways, I think Nadia is popular enough that you can use it even if you are not of russian descent. It's very pretty.





Bianca - It's pretty, I didn't think of it, adding it to my list as well.





Eden - I'm completely against using names that have an obvious, unmistakable meaning. Names that, in english, stand for anything concrete inanimate or living, or an abstract idea are just not good choices for a person's name. Like Melody, Faith, Destiny, or Rose, Cherry, Daisy, or Sunshine, Moonshine or Rainfall. I would never use any name that would fall in this category. But that's just me...


If the meaning is in another language, it's ok, you got the idea...





Leila- It makes me think of the 60's

Nadia - reminds me of the girl from the american pie movies...not good.


Eden - nice, but overused.








Carmen - love it! it reminds me of the character from the 'traveling pants' novels, who is a strong, fierce, and independent young woman.


Bianca - i'm pretty sure it means 'beautiful', which is completely suiting to the name.


Leila - my all time favorite from the list!

Reply:i really like leila, very not-so popular... different in a good way. it reminds me of a nice, innocent, kind person. eden sounds like an old lady name... desiree- ok, carmen isn't too femenine, nadia is ok... reminds me of a mellow person, not extremely nice, but not meanm, either , bianca-i personally don't like it that much

I actually like all of them, in addition to Bianca I also like Blanca.
